Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Appellate Court Clerk’s Office is confirming that appellate case data from Tennessee was included in the cybersecurity incident reported today by West Publishing Corporation (West).

In its public statement, West said it has notified several court systems that based on its investigation, “a subset of court records was affected, some of which could potentially contain individuals’ names and possibly one or more of the following: Social Security number, driver’s license number, medical information, date of birth, and health insurance information.”

After discovering the unauthorized activity June 30, 2026, West says it immediately notified law enforcement and took steps to contain the activity and secure the environment.

The Tennessee Appellate Court Clerk’s Office was notified by West on July 27th that a third-party had gained unauthorized access to backup data between March 1st and 16th.

In response, the judiciary’s Cyber Incident Response Plan was activated to include closely following all state and federal reporting requirements.

The Clerk’s Office also confirms the incident did not impact the integrity or functionality of the case management system and the system remains operational.
